Does being a woman make you a better candidate to head the IMF?

French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde is one of two declared candidates to take over as head of the IMF. The other is a man

If successful, Ms Lagarde would be the first woman to head the IMF. She declared that she would bring all her experiences to the job as a minister, manager and a woman. The most obvious thing that differentiates a woman's experience from a man's is that women bear children. For most women this is a very big deal, though it's not obvious how such experience sets anyone up for running the IMF.

I would say that it does not make a different if you are a woman or man. The one can make it just as far as the other. I think it has more to do with what kind of person you are. Your character would say much more than your sex. Just that women bear children does not make men any less impressive. Men also have children and also have other things to deal with. It seems like they want to say that women live in such a hard time live and because of that, it would be so impressive to take over as head over the IMF. While men, can do the same thing. It is possible of course that men can present even more.

  1. I am hunderd precent sure that it has nothing to do with the sex of that person like Sinem said. The person must have the skills. It is very important to know what you are doing and what you would like to do in the future as the head of IMF.
